The "Groovy Little Blues Run" Technique

     The "Groovy Little Blues Run" Technique is based on the blues scale descending, and can be played in any key. But there are certain keys, such as F and C and Bb, where it is far easier as far as fingering is concerned, than other keys such as A, Db, and E.

     I'm going to demonstrate it in F:

From the top down:  F  Eb  C  Cb  Bb  Ab  F  and keep moving down for 2 or more octaves.

While fingering is an individual matter, and not written in stone, here is the fingering I use:

F=4

Eb=3

C=1 (thumb)

Cb=4

Bb=3

Ab=2

F=1 (If you want to continue down another octave, pass your 3rd finger over your thumb and play Eb)

     You can play this "groovy little blues run" in various rhythms, tempos, high, low, up as well as down. Experiment around and I think you'll find some exciting sounds!
